Travel Blog

In 12 days my partner and I will be hopping on a cruise ship and be on our way to the beautiful islands of New Caledonia. I am so excited about this holiday as it is our first holiday together and also my first holiday since I started university 5 years ago. The last time I went to New Caledonia was when I was 12, It was for my cousins wedding. I had so much fun with my family over there, the beaches were beautiful, the bush was beautiful every day was sunny and full of fun.

We are going to be visiting four islands when we are over there, Mare, Isle of Pines, Lifou and Noumea on the main land. My Aunt lives in Noumea, but we’re not sure if she will be there when we are over as she has a Karate Tournament in Papua New Guinea to go to! No matter, she comes over every Christmas for a visit so if I miss her then, I will see her in December.

I have no idea what’s on offer through the ship in terms of shore excursions but I know I want to canoe, snorkel, wind surf and what ever they call it when you stand on a surfboard and paddle. I’ll have to figure out what it is before we go so I know what to call it when I ask.

I am really looking forward to the luxury of the cruise, the pools, the spar, the lounges, the bars and casinos, the shops and restaurants! We saved a bit extra and decided to splurge on a balcony room so we will be able to wake up and watch the sunrise as well as have a bit of our own space outside.I have been searching YouTube for footage of the ship inside and out. It’s the Carnival Spirit and it is a monster, it has so much packed inside I don’t know what I am going to do with myself or where to start first!

I’m going to attempt to keep a travel blog, so if you want to hear about my adventures on the high seas make sure you swing be here!
